Change and Action

First of all, Thank you for continuing to read the CR blog. My prayer has been that the thoughts that are recorded in this blog have in some way helped anyone that feels the pressures of the outside world piling up on them. There can be a feeling of hopelessness when everything seems to be out of control. Truth be told, I myself was in this situation very recently. It took a very serious Heart attack for me to wake up and understand that I had to make some drastic changes in my life, or I wasn’t going to be here very long.

Reading in the Celebrate Recovery 365-day devotional there were many phrases that jumped out at me and helped me understand a little more the decisions that I needed to make.

Day 2- A Single Step,“I can remember being at a point when I knew my life was spinning out of control. I knew there were a lot of things I needed to change. But I didn’t want to change my current lifestyle too much.” Sound familiar! “A race goes on with a single step, and so does recovery. The only way to run with perseverance is to hang on to God’s hand and let him take the lead.” “True change comes only when we die to ourselves and allow Christ to set the pace.”

Wow, I didn’t write those statements, but I very easily could have.

Day 365- Taking Action, “Even after we admit that our lives are out of control, we can still get stuck in a cycle of failure that keeps us bound by guilt, anger, fear, and depression. How do we get past those old, familiar negative barriers that keep us from freedom and wholeness? We do that by taking action. Making a choice requires action.” “Why should we continue to struggle when the road to relief, wholeness, freedom, and a new life is just one choice away? That’s where true recovery begins, with action. And that action can open up a whole new way of living.”

Is your life revolving around your past, and old habits that just wont seem to go away? Do you see yourself going in circles doing the same things over and over, making the same mistakes and getting the same results? Maybe the answer is that your trying to do it all on your own power instead of letting God lead the way.

Celebrate Recovery is the vehicle to help you understand how you should travel in this race of life. But only God has the roadmap to get you where you are going.

Celebrate recovery meets every Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. here at Good News Community church.
